Monolithic sandstone needles jut upward from the flat, grass-covered plains of Chesler Park. A small corral and rusting furnace near the base of these needles are all that remain to indicate the park's history as a cattle pasture. Ranchers maintained a small airstrip in Chesler Park, which they used up until 1964. Since then almost all traces of habitation have been erased from the sandy meadowland.
